The Authors

Clive Atkins is an Outdoor Education Adviser currently working with 17 local authorities. He has extensive experience at delivering Outdoor and Adventurous Activities programmes at all levels from early years through to adults. Clive holds high level qualifications in a range of outdoor activities, is an LOtC Quality Badge Assessor and former Adventurous Activities Licensing Service inspector. 

Jan Hickman is currently the Physical Education Adviser for the London Borough of Enfield who for many years she has worked across several London boroughs, advising and supporting physical education. She has Ofsted experience and holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).  Jan’s passion for PE making a significant contribution to children’s health and well-being is evident in this new publication. 

Both Clive and Jan share the belief that high quality Outdoor & Adventurous Activities delivered in primary schools can make an enormous difference to all children’s education, and provide a powerful learning environment with the potential to influence young people’s personal and social skills.
